So I've mentioned a few times that there's a DeLorean in my new neighborhood.

The Truck Yeah Monster Truck DeLorean made me go on Google Street View and see how long it's been sitting in the same exact spot unmoved. An old guy owns it and I think he's under the impression that it "can't rust" because of the body. Because he clearly leaves it outdoors in the same spot year round. In Michigan. The underside of this car must be a god damn mess.

Here it is on streetview in it's usual location in his driveway in July of 2011.

When I was 16 I found one in driveway that I wanted to buy for my first car. I asked the owner how much he wanted for it, he said he had about $40k into it, so somewhere around there. There were bees living in it, so many I couldn't even sit in it.

and they overestimate what they're worth too. At the time I could have picked one up for around $10k in running condition. For $40k I could have got a completely refurbished one from DMC in Houston

If it's just sitting though won't it rust less? It wouldn't be exposed to as much road salt as it would be driving.

probably less than it being out on the road yea, but it's still rotting underneath. If it's been sitting in that exact spot for at least 3+ years (and I would guess a LOT longer) then all the rubber underneath is probably dry rotted and I'm sure with how much snow we had last year it was probably piled up to the hood around this thing

Honestly I wouldn't know, I've only lived in this neighborhood since September, and the google streetview showing it in the EXACT same spot in 2011, leads me to believe it doesn't move often.

If you're legit into the car and want to approach the guy about trying to buy it, we can chat and I can give you the address to knock on his door.

From my past experience though - he may answer armed lol

Oh that was in a different post. Went for a walk with the wife and baby, touring new neighborhood, said hello or hi to everyone just being polite.

Get to this guys house and i'm like sweet a DeLorean maybe I can have a chat with him.

Me: "Hi, how you doing?"

Him: *Promptly turns around and walks into the house not even acknowledging me*

Thought maybe his hearing aids were off, but he started responding to his wife who called out to him from inside - so yes, he could hear me, he chose to ignore the nice new couple with the baby walking down the side walk.
